Tattoo Removal
Safely Fading Tattoos You Are Ready to Move On From
Whether you are ready to remove a tattoo completely or fade it enough for a cover up, laser tattoo removal at NYA Med Spa is the most effective way to do it. We use a Q-switched laser that delivers very fast pulses of light energy.
The light is absorbed by the tattoo ink, breaking it into smaller particles that your body's immune system then clears away naturally over the following weeks. Different ink colors respond differently, and we will walk you through realistic expectations during your consultation.
What to Expect from Tattoo Removal Sessions
Tattoo removal is a process. Most tattoos take several sessions spaced about six to eight weeks apart, which gives your body time to clear the broken down ink in between. Each session at our Grand Rapids location takes anywhere from a few minutes for a small tattoo to thirty minutes for larger pieces.
We use numbing cream and a chilled air device for comfort. After a session, the treated area will look slightly raised, possibly white, and may scab as it heals over the next week or two. Aftercare is simple, and we will guide you through it.

What makes tattoo removal at NYA Med Spa a smart choice for Grand Rapids clients.

How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the size, color, age, and depth of the ink. Most tattoos need somewhere between five and ten sessions, sometimes more for stubborn pieces.
Does laser tattoo removal hurt?
Most clients describe it as similar to getting the tattoo originally, or like a rubber band snap. We use numbing cream and cool air to make it more comfortable.
How long should I wait between sessions?
We typically space sessions six to eight weeks apart. That gives your body enough time to clear the ink that has been broken down before going again.
Will my skin look normal after removal?
Most clients are left with skin that looks very close to normal. Some may see slight texture or color change, especially with deeper or colorful tattoos.
